EXTREME COLLABORATION

You have heard the hype, you have heard how Lean is being used to improve how the construction trades do their work. But what does that mean for design? As a designer, how has the process changed? As a constructor, what is your commitment? Does anypone benefit from all this change?

The most effective use of Lean and collaborative delivery starts even before design starts by focusing on maximizing value and minimizing waste in every facet of a project from developing the definition of each project through its desin, supply, and construction.  At the  last LCI-DFW event you learned about Last Planner, discover how early particpants react to these tools and what they use to implement lean on previous and current projects.

Presenters:

Join the DFW Chapter of the Lean Construction Institute as an Architect, Engineer, and Trade Contractor talk about how Lean has changed the way they work.  HKS, Inc. will talk about how Lean is changing, not only the interaction during design but the design process itself.  Ccrd and Dynaten will talk about the successes and challenges of collaboration between trades and designers.

LCI DFW Community of Practice (CoP)

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.

The Dallas Fort Worth Community of Practice of LCI  provides local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors, and suppliers.  We invite owners and project delivery team members to meet together as a local user group to learn, share, and develop a lean community in DFW. As a regional forum for conversations among practitioners, the CoP will help create a new common sense for the AEC industry as LCI continues to build knowledge in design and construction.
